COVID-19 Statement

Dear Community,

In light of all that is happening in connection with COVID-19, I wanted to communicate with you directly.

We’ve taken immediate steps to protect the health of our patients, staff, and the community at large. These changes are the result of our constant communication with the Southern Nevada Health District as well as the Centers for Disease Control. Please understand, the safeguards we currently have in place may change in the future, based on the trajectory of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak.

At some point, our guidelines will require your assistance and participation.  We ask for your patience as we get through this together. At this time, our ultimate goal is keeping our patients, with compromised immune systems and other complicating factors, healthy and safe. Their health is everything to us, and it is our responsibility to protect them in this current environment.

To help prevent the transmission of the virus, we are enforcing a virtual working environment (work from home) for many of our team members and we have eliminated all visitor and guest activity in the facility.  We have established a mandatory screening center where everyone entering our facility; including employees, patients/parents, and vendors will be required to participate in the screening activities prior to entering the elevators that accesses our clinical environment.

Finally, I want to strongly support the actions of our lawmakers for the steps they have taken to declare a state of emergency. This is an essential first step. I also want to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the professionals in public health, EMS/first responders, and the many health care professionals keeping our local healthcare system intact.  The precautions listed above, will keep our healthcare professionals healthy so they can get us through this.

LAS VEGAS – February 19, 2020 –  Golfers in Southern Nevada are invited to play a round of golf at one of the region’s premier golf courses while also helping to raise funds for Nevada’s children in need of specialized medical treatment, including cancer.

The 8th Annual Golf 4 The Kids Tournament is happening on Monday, April 27, 2020, and is limited to 144 golfers who will experience Red Rock Country Club’s private Mountain Course, designed by Arnold Palmer. The par-72 course, nestled alongside the breathtaking Red Rock Canyon, will offer attendees a world-class golfing experience that includes rugged desert and mountain terrain.

Golfers can register for the event by going online:, or by calling (702) 862-1168 or through email: events@cure4thekids.org. Individual golfers are $500 with foursomes priced at $1,500. Several tournament sponsorships are also available.

Cure 4 The Kids Foundation Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry Event Exceeds Goal

LAS VEGAS  – February 18, 2020 – The Cure 4 The Kids Foundation Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry event on Valentine’s Day was a huge success, impacting the lives of 177 people who will benefit from the life-saving blood donations and many more who may find a bone marrow match.

A total of 59 units was collected by the Vitalant team, which translated into a 211 percent increase above the event’s goal.

“This is a win for our entire community,” said Katherine Salkanovic, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation Patient Experience Manager. “A blood shortage can affect any of us – including our patients – so increasing the blood supply will benefit all of us.”

Just as impressive, approximately 100 people joined the bone marrow registry at the event.

Be The Match volunteers helped attendees become part of the registry through a simple mouth swab.  Should those registrants become a match for someone in need of a bone marrow transplant, they will be contacted by Be The Match.

Having an adequate blood supply and a diverse bone marrow registry benefits everyone, and also has a direct impact on the health of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation patients. Recently, a patient had to be hospitalized for several days while awaiting the specific blood type they needed, which was not available locally.  Another Cure 4 The Kids Foundation patient will need a bone marrow transplant in the future and is seeking a matching donor.

Those who would you like to donate blood can do so by contacting Vitalant (formerly United Blood Services) at bloodhero.com or 877-827-4376.

Additionally, Be The Match can send a mouth swab kit to anyone who would like to join the registry — details can be found at bethematch.org.
