Saumya Joshi

Dr. Joshi is the Medical Director of Rheumatology at C4K. He received his medical degree from Armed Forces Medical College in India. He pursued a residency in Pediatrics from State University of Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and a fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology from Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA. During his fellowship, he also received a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Tufts Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Boston, MA. After completing his training, he joined Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock where he served for two years as the only board-certified Pediatric Rheumatologist in the state of Arkansas.

Dr. Joshi is trained in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and has received the American College of Medicine Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Certification in Rheumatology (RhMSUS). He is an active member of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Rheumatology (ACR), Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) and Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR).

Waseem Alhushki

Director of Oncology & Clinic Lead Physician

Dr. Waseem Alhushki serves as the Director of Oncology at Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, where he has been a dedicated physician since 2013. His current clinical focus is in pediatric oncology, with particular expertise in solid and rare tumors, including challenging and atypical cancer presentations in children and adolescents.                                         

Dr. Alhushki began his journey in pediatric hematology/oncology at King Hussein Cancer Center in Jordan. He completed his pediatric residency at Wayne State University/Children’s Hospital of Michigan—earning the Outstanding Continuity Clinic Resident Award—and went on to fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he conducted research on the impact of weight loss in improving outcomes for obese children with leukemia.

In 2024, he was honored as Healthcare Professional of the Year by the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, and recognized as a Top Doctor by VEGAS INC / Health Care Quarterly, reflecting his commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence.

Outside of oncology practice, Dr. Alhushki has volunteered with Operation Smile on cleft repair missions, and led youth health and development programs with UNICEF and UNFPA. He speaks English and Arabic fluently, and enjoys reading, skateboarding, and playing guitar.” 

Cory Frey

Cory Frey is president of Frey Insurance and Benefits, LLC, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company is licensed with the State of Nevada to manage commercial risk in Life and Health Contracts.  His practice primarily focuses on the management of medium to large group health employee benefit plans.  Mr. Frey’s experience working in commercial insurance, as well as a decade in the regulated banking sector, provides him with extensive understanding in the areas of credit capacity, cash flow, risk management, and entrepreneurship. When not working, Frey volunteers with the Clark County School District’s Professionals and Youth Building A Commitment (PAYBAC) Program and also speaks with at-risk student populations throughout the year. He also coaches multiple youth sport teams as well as managing a 501c3 registered 14u club baseball organization.

Farhan Naqvi

Catherine Laska

Catherine Laska is a mother of three adult sons, one of which survived childhood cancer. She is also vice president of the Cure 4 the Kids Foundation. She is very active in the childhood cancer community and has been since her son was diagnosed with a Wilm’s Tumor at age 3. She is passionate about educating others on the long-term effects that cancer treatment has on children and is an advocate of development and funding for a “late effects” center for the State of Nevada.

Creecy Underwood

Creecy Underwood is an event sales manager at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. She started her career in college working in restaurants, where she quickly developed her passion for food and hospitality. She obtained both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degree in Hospitality at Texas Tech University. Upon moving to Las Vegas in 2001, she spent her first few years in Las Vegas as an operations manager and sales manager for two of the top destination management companies in the city. In 2004, she joined the Hard Rock Special Events Team where she continues as event sales manager working with corporate, social and charity groups.

Danielle Bello

Dr. Bello joined the Cure 4 the Kids Foundation in 2015. She is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology and a licensed psychologist in Nevada.

Dr. Bello is originally from New York and completed her bachelor’s degree at Binghamton University with a focus on business management. She obtained a master’s degree in psychology at New York University and completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dr. Bello completed the neuropsychology internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She also completed two years of postdoctoral residency in neuropsychology locally in Las Vegas. Dr. Bello found her interest in psychology and helping children while volunteering for nonprofit organizations in New York. She returned to school switching careers from business to psychology.

Dr. Bello has served as a practicum training supervisor for doctoral students and has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology. She directs the Behavioral Health Department and the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education Learning Center at C4K. She is a member of various professional organizations including the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and the Nevada Cancer Coalition.

Angela Berg

Angela Berg DNP, APRN, CPNP achieved her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Utah following a seasoned career as an RN in a variety of pediatric settings. Her background has given Angela the passion for providing top quality care to children, supporting cost-effective care options, and developing care models to provide for functional care for children.

Angela began the first clinic based outpatient pediatric palliative care program for Nevada right here at Cure 4 the Kids Foundation in early 2016. Angela serves as the Director of Specialty Services Clinic, Pediatric Palliative Program Director, and nurse practitioner for the palliative and rheumatology patients. She is also a founding board member of the Board of Directors for Cure 4 The Kids Foundation.

Joseph L. Lasky III

Dr. Lasky, our current Medical Director, joined the Cure the Kids Foundation in 2017 as our Director of Neuro-Oncology. He attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago and did his pediatric residency at the University of Chicago. He completed his Pediatric Hematology Oncology fellowship at UCLA in 2006, and was director of the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program at UCLA until 2009 when he moved to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA, and was named Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology. While there, Dr. Lasky became involved with a number of clinical trials for patients with bleeding disorders (including hemophilia and von Willebrand disease) as well as sickle cell anemia. While continuing to have research interests in pediatric brain tumors and immunology, he also is interested in running and developing clinical trials for patients with bleeding disorders and sickle cell anemia. Dr. Lasky is a member of several professional societies including Children’s Oncology Group, Society for Neuro-Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He enjoys watching sports, reading, music, and outdoor activities with his family.

David Leake

David Leake has served as a member of our board of directors since August 2013 and is currently serving as the treasurer of the board. David serves as a Controller for a family office that services high net worth clients. From October 2011 to December 2013 David served within Station Casinos where he left as a director of finance. Until October 2011, David served within PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP where he obtained his CPA license. David holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting with a minor in marketing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
