ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) MA I will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly.
b) MA I will perform many administrative duties including answering telephones, greeting patients, pulling charts, and updating patient information in the electronic medical records.
c) MA I may also arrange examining room instruments and equipment, purchase and maintain supplies and equipment, and keep waiting and examining rooms neat and clean. They constantly interact with other people and may have to handle several responsibilities at once.
Clinic Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Assists medical and nursing staff in a variety of tasks including:
a) Documenting medical history and recording vital signs
b) Explaining treatment procedures to patients
c) Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
d) Assisting the Providers, APN or RN during the examination and procedures, and treatment within their scope of practice.
e) Drawing blood, collecting and preparing other laboratory specimens
f) Performing basic laboratory tests on the premises, disposing of contaminated supplies appropriately
g) Promoting patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient record.
h) Preparing and administering medications as directed by the Provider
i) Authorizing drug refills as directed
j) Telephoning prescriptions to a pharmacy
k) Coordinating with specialty pharmacy to fill specialty medications that are ordered by the Provider
l) Monitoring vital signs of infusion patients and monitoring for infusion reactions
m) Maintaining adequate inventory of examination room supplies and preparing exam rooms at the beginning and end of day and between each patient contact
n) Performing a variety of office responsibilities: answering phones and taking messages
o) Performing triage with practice in an accurate and timely manner.
p) Cleaning and disinfecting exam rooms and isolation rooms as necessary
q) Administering vaccines and medications as order by Provider
r) Assisting in maintaining vaccine inventory
s) Performing other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the Provider or Manager of Clinical Services & Quality.
