This is a role that requires a multi-disciplinary team approach to solving problems and patient challenges. The Controller directs the financial activities of the Organization and oversees all financial and fiscal management. They are responsible for internal and external financial reporting and oversee fiscal internal controls. This is an exempt position that reports directly to the CFO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Controller duties typically include but are not limited to the following:
a) Direct and participate in the development of accounting and internal control policies and procedures.
b) Coordinate and control cash and investment management activities.
c) Provide advice and assistance to department heads and managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports.
d) Assure financial plans are consistent with Organizational goals by preparing an annual budget and maintaining ongoing monitoring of that budget.
e) Manage banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under competitive terms.
f) Track income and expenses appropriately by department.
g) Maintain all general ledger transactions and reconciliations.
h) Complete month end closing schedules and close each month, including preparation of financial statements and related reports, within 10 days.
i) Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
j) Responsible for timely completion of external audit and income tax returns.
k) Maintenance of accounting files.
l) Maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
m) Hire, manage and oversee activities of Accounting Department staff.
n) Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Manages the overall direction and day to day operation and, coordination of the accounting department staff. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
