The Pacific Sickle Cell Regional Collaborative (PSCRC) held its first strategic planning meeting in May. As you may know, we are one of 9 clinics taking part in this collaborative in the Pacific region. This includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Sickle cell disease (SCD) presents a major health concern due to a lack of a safe cure, as well as the unpredictable nature of the disease. We hope to increase the number of patients receiving the only medication with proven efficacy in altering the course of this disease. The collaborative has it’s own website here:

Here’s what Dr, Ikeda and Dr. Rashid have to say about the benefits of the PSCRC:

If you have sickle cell disease and would like additional information on the collaborative, please call the Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada at 702-732-1493. The collaborative is also ready to work with physicians who may have patients with sickle cell disease and are seeking any new recommendations for treatment.
